I co-founded Conecto A/S in 1997 and served as the company's CEO. From the start, it was about building an IT company that could deliver real solutions for both private and public sector customers — not just selling technology, but understanding the operational and security challenges customers actually faced.
During the period I led the company, my job was to shape both the business and its professional identity — including the specialisation in IT security that later became one of Conecto's hallmarks, and that helped make it one of only five Danish Citrix Platinum partners. It was also during that period that the development team built a range of different software products — including SMS PASSCODE, which was later spun out as its own company.
Two chapters in the same company
In 2009, we sold Conecto A/S and I stepped out of day-to-day leadership. When I returned to Conecto years afterwards — this time as an investor and chairman — it was because the company needed exactly the kind of experience I had built elsewhere: the ability to recognise when direction, leadership and pace need to change, and the will to actually do it. That story — the turnaround, the new leadership, and the sale to Danoffice IT — is covered on the Track record page.
Together, the two chapters of my relationship with Conecto — as founder and CEO, and later as investor and chairman — cover something I believe is rare: having stood in both roles at the same company, decades apart, and understood what each of them requires.
